Welcome to Seeing the Person: Introduction to Dementia and Culturally Responsive Care

What happens when a person is diagnosed with dementia? Does the human behind the diagnosis disappear? How does culture play a role in dementia care? This online course invites you to explore these questions in a thought-provoking and empathetic way.

Through this course, aged care workers will develop an understanding of how dementia impacts the person and will learn how curiosity and kindness can support culturally responsive care for people living with dementia from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Meet the training facilitator: Daniela Russo – Neuro Educator, Gerontologist & Dementia Consultant

Daniela Russo is a multicultural neuro educator passionate about making neuroscience meaningful, practical, and accessible. Through storytelling, she translates complex brain science into engaging learning experiences that help professionals, families, and communities better understand dementia, ageing, brain health, and human connection.

Drawing on both evidence-based practice and lived experience, Daniela challenges stigma, promotes culturally inclusive care, and inspires a deeper understanding of the person behind the diagnosis.
