Introduction to Cultural Awareness in Aged Care

This online course is designed to equip aged care workers with the basic concepts and knowledge to support older people from diverse cultural backgrounds.

With 1 in 3 people using aged care services being born overseas (AIHW, 2023), it is important that aged care providers deliver high-quality and culturally appropriate care to older Australians from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.

Understanding Cultural Awareness is the first and very important step for aged care providers and workers in their journey to achieve aged care that is culturally informed and embraces the needs of older multicultural communities.

How the course works:

1. The training includes 6 short modules, which must be completed in order.
2. The green check mark means the module is done, while an empty circle means it’s still in progress.

To complete a module, make sure to:

1. Have watched all the videos until the end.
2. Have completed all the interactive activities.
3. Please mark the task as complete to unlock the next content.
4. Set aside around 25 to 40 minutes to complete this module.
